Time Management | The Cleaning Game

Time Management tips

I am a 30 year old woman. I am also a full time mother, girlfriend, and blogger. Trust me, of the 3? Blogging takes up the most time. I also am able to keep a fairly clean house 90% of the time, cook a meal most nights for my family (Tom does help with the cooking), plan our monthly budget and spend time with my family…all without my business of relationships suffering.

I know. Some of you are going “HOW??”

Well one, I’ve gotten really good at multi-tasking. At any given time, I am doing at minimum 6 things at once. Yes I am. I am 100% utterly exhausted and I won’t lie about it..lol. Seriously though, if you’re not good at it? Practice until you are. Multi-tasking can be a life saver when you have tons going on at one time.
One of my favorite little “tricks” to do is to “play” the cleaning game. Yes, I’m an adult so no, it’s not really a game but I couldn’t come up with anything better to call it.

It’s fairly simple to do and believe it or not, it’s very effective.

Set a timer for 20 minutes. Now go do something that you’ve been putting off for a while or that has fallen through the cracks. Work for that 20 minutes and only that 20 minutes. Work the entire 20 minutes with no breaks. When the 20 minutes is up and your timer goes off, stop working.

Now, reset your timer for 20 minutes again.

Either go take a break and rest for that 20 minutes or go do another task that you’ve needed to do. Me personally, I move onto another task 98% of the time.

When your 20 minutes is up? Go back to the first task for another 20 minutes.

Lather, rinse and repeat until finished.

Think I’m nuts? Try it for one day. You might be surprised at just how much you can get done in one 20 minute period. Let me know if you try it and how well it works for you!

In her off time, she can frequently be found in front the television making fun of "B" class movies with her hubby, belting out bad karaoke with her daughter, and of course, saving every dime that she possibly can. When asked to describe herself, she will tell you that she is a "perpetual pajama lounger who occasionally writes on a blog." Stacy is very PR friendly and can be contacted by email.
